Vision Insurance

The cost of routine eye exams and prescription eyewear can be of real concern. In many cases, vision insurance can lower these annual expenses. Our knowledgeable staff is experienced in working with a variety of insurance providers. We will work directly with you and your insurer to submit claims regarding your vision care. We strive to ensure that you understand your insurance coverage and will answer any questions you may have regarding your benefits.

A vision insurance plan is not the same as health insurance, so what's the difference. Regular health insurance plans protect you against financial losses due to unexpected eye injuries or disease. Vision insurance, on the other hand, is a wellness benefit designed to provide routine eye care, prescription eyewear, and other vision-related services at a reduced cost.

Many current vision plans are designed to cover most of the basic vision-related costs, but not all costs associated with eyecare and eyewear. Most plans require a co-payment for the eye examination and offer additional allowances and benefits which are applied toward the cost of your purchase of frames, eyeglass lenses, and contact lenses. Flexible Spending Accounts

Many employers are offering Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options to employees. Sometimes these are referred to as cafeteria plans and are elective, supplemental insurance savings plans.

These plans are designed to let you save money in an account, pre-tax, to pay for additional medical expenses such as eye exams, glasses, contacts, and often laser vision surgery.

Check with the benefits administrator at your work to see if you are eligible for this program. FSAs can typically be used in conjunction with any vision insurance plan to offset any out-of-pocket costs on your behalf. For more info https://www.uoosd.com/payments
